I'll try that and let you know on how it goes...

Edit;
Seems to working again...

Don't know why they have to change the World Editor to Classic as Default...

Not only we didn't get any new natives or tools for the modding community (not even bug fixes for the already broken ones), but they managed to brake the UI Natives even more. Not to mention the washed face lie about HD Classic graphics that don't look nothing like advertised.

What did the bastards say again?: “When something is broken, you fix it. When something is wrong, you make it right”.... Yeah, commom swindlers speech

Reforged 1.0. (2020): "Forced" downgrade to original WC3 users that didn't own Reforged (the "Classic" one with only ROC+TFT keys).
Reforged 2.0. (2024): Massively downgrade to original WC3 users (forced to completely buy a game, even if you own only the ROC+TFT keys).

I remembered when Activision Blizzard released the first build of Reforged 4 years ago. They had a lot of missing features like single-player custom games, custom campaigns, etc. They might have reverted those features back, but numerous bugs were still persists.

2.0. only made things got worse. FPS drops in Classic HD mode, Mac users still not even be able to play this game, among the others.

What a complete mess this team. Decided to remove Battle.net app and install the pre-1.32 Warcraft III back again until they fixed those bugs in the future.

Seriously I still have crappy version and not that nice looking model...
Probably they haven't updated it yet or it was just a "Patch Update" for them...

Now a lot of people have to update their projects and maps or they might not work in the new Warcraft III.

Well, I'm glad they didn't forget about the game and were even able to show this update on the stream with some pride.
But I was confused by the fact that they strangely IMPROVED the detailing of the landscape in the reforge graphics.
It's especially strange how these textures, which are literally cartoonish, don't go well with the graphic models from the reforge.
the new trees texture/tile or whatever they did looks like shit, they look exactly like the map in league of legends. cartoony as shit and blurry, it's fine if you use classic, but on reforged the models looks even more out of place on the new cartoon land.
also it looks better without foliage, because the sharp/pixelated animated grass looks bad on top of the new blurry tilesets.

So how long is it going to take until someone decides to make the screenshots we got a reality because Blizzard isn't going to bother?

make the screenshots we got a reality because Blizzard isn't going to bother?
Wasn't @YourArthas and a couple of other people trying to do that years ago, but it was extremely time consuming and nobody appreciated it because they all got excited about Reforged instead?

I was making my own War3 emulator engine that used LibGDX game engine instead of Reforged as the underlying game engine, and I was able to load all of their work on the custom engine since they did their work within the original MDX 800 format (Frozen Throne):

(NOTE: video is from 2020, four years old)

But even then, in my opinion, some of their buildings and stuff had weird lighting on it. It's extremely time consuming to just "make it better but also the same"

I'm not gonna lie: this is a huge disappointment to me...

I would I loved any of three things:
  • a total redoing of Reforged - as they themselves admitted it needed fixing,
  • a Warcraft IV/ new campaigns or races,
  • a reedition of Warcraft I and II with REFORGED designs, not 2D.

I feel robbed. The 30 years anniversary as a whole seemed really shallow with very few meaningful additions.
Oh, and let's not even mention Heroes of the Storm, because obviously they did not either... :'(
Its better than nothing at all, and honestly i am rather optimistic because since microsoft took over they are more active when it comes to Wc3, there are good changes like adding hotkeys and skins, not sure why there isnt an inventory hotkey option but still they are working in the right direction.
I also hope they will make another warcraft expansion which adds 1 more hero to each existing race, some new units, new campaign with storyline where it left from wc3 and new heroes to the tavern, that will be perfect, Warcraft IV is bad idea because it will split the community and warcraft 3 is already very good game so its going to be very hard for them to make a better one, just new expansion and im buying it.
Also im hopeful that they are going to release new hero to HotS soon, they cant ignore this game forever, microsoft are better for sure.

Well, most Mac users complained a lot about client not launching issues before and after the Reforged 2.0. update.
Funny enough that someone had even posted about both game and WE clients not launching on Windows 7.
That issues seem to be happened on Windows 7 users long before this 2.0. update, probably on 1.33.
But the weird thing is that the official system requirements for the game said that Windows 7 and 8.1. are still supported.

Is Blizzard really killed Windows 7 and 8.1. support for Warcraft III (and the other games)??? I don't think so.

I have done some testing on DNC models, and it seems some DNC models are broken, while some aren't. I have tried using a DNC model with NO light node at all, which seems to work. The map becomes completely black. As soon as I add a light node though, the DNC breaks and illuminates the whole map, removing all shadows.

DAY no DNC.png

DAY not empty DNC.png

NIGHT empty DNC.png

Now this makes it possible for me to retain night in my campaigns, but it will be darker than before, which is unfortunate. Especially in the maps that are underground where there is no night cycle, it will be completely dark, only illuminated by light sources. Previously I had a brightness system where players could adjust the brightness themselves, by effectively swapping between a set number of DNC models at varying brightnesses. This does not work anymore, so people's eyes will be absolutely destroyed by my cave and cult hideout maps.

Guys.... other than the game textures being AI upscaled which pretty apparent. This one is not so at first glance BUT..... Even the main promotional arts are AI. Thanks for ZenmasterStar for pointing it out.
Proof Pictures

I noticed that it's a copy of Samwise Diddier's work but now that I look at it closesly it's indeed AI.
Mostly because:
  • Missing Skull on Frostmourne, even if you are intern that's a pretty important detail design wise.
  • Arthas being blonde with Frostmourne( I mean technically he was the first time he picked it up, but paired with the Skull mistake it's pretty apparent fuckup, also he fights Illidan, he was grey haired by then)
  • Body parts on the original appearing as new characters. Like the bear paw.
  • Some units turn into other Warcraft characters like the Necromancer to Lich, Gargoyle to Dreadlord?
  • Shameless copying of other arts as well and inserting into the picture
  • Cenarion having both hands as "wood fingers" but in flesh version
  • 5 fingered troll

I heard rumors they might have added some more editor options, like picking portrait model.

Is this true, and is there a list anywhere?

You say without light node. What about just a very weak light node?
Tried with a weak light node, still not working as it should.

The only good thing from this anniversary for me so far is the new UI additions to WC1 and WC2. Now WC1 is slightly more bearable to play, although it is still pretty bad.
Both WC1 and WC2 have increased unit selection now. This is handy in WC2, where armies can easily get fairly large. WC2 is actually more enjoyable to play now, to me at least. I don't mind the updated graphics for those games either. The only thing I find laughable is how these ancient games now actually require something from even a fairly new computer - loading is not instant anymore :-D Seriously, that's a joke and I am sure most of these extra components are just some Bnet control stuff that really weren't necessary.

Now the worst for me: WC3 broke map development and the new editor still, after 22 years, does not have increased doodads cap - this is a joke. How come we still have to resort to custom map editors made for pre-reforged o_O

Overall 2/10. 1st point for the enjoyment of WC1 and WC2. 2nd point for the new main menu in WC3 which returns to the logical one from the original rather than the mess from Reforged.

The new ui is nice and the game still is playable. Can now use warcraft 1 or 2 music when one doesnt want warcraft 3 music right now.

This patch changed these fdf from framedef/ui/.
alliancedialog.fdf
allianceslot.fdf
cinematicpanel.fdf
consoleui.fdf
escmenutemplates.fdf
heropanel.fdf
heropanelelement.fdf
inventorybar.fdf
minimapframe.fdf
observersimpleinfopanel.fdf
productionpanelrow.fdf
productionpanelunit.fdf
replaypanelv1.fdf
replaypanelv2.fdf

("ConsoleUI",0) 's children were moved and there are 2 new children
"ConsoleTopBar", 0
has no childs

("ConsoleBottomBar",0)
has now 5 children
[0] ("ConsoleBottomBarOverlay", 0)
[1] ("CommandBarFrame", 0)
[2] ("SimpleInfoPanelUnitDetail", 0) Parent
[3] IdleWorkerFace
[4] ORIGIN_FRAME_UBERTOOLTIP

Idleworker is now BlzFrameGetChild(BlzGetFrameByName("ConsoleBottomBar", 0), 3)

These 2 new frames technicaly allow to hide background ui textures with map script only and still keep the other ui.
Lua:
BlzFrameSetVisible(BlzGetFrameByName("ConsoleTopBar", 0), false)
BlzFrameSetParent(BlzGetFrameByName("CommandBarFrame", 0), BlzGetFrameByName("ConsoleUI", 0))
BlzFrameSetParent(BlzFrameGetParent(BlzGetFrameByName("SimpleInfoPanelUnitDetail", 0)), BlzGetFrameByName("ConsoleUI", 0))
BlzFrameSetParent(BlzGetOriginFrame(ORIGIN_FRAME_UBERTOOLTIP , 0), BlzGetFrameByName("ConsoleUI", 0))
BlzFrameSetVisible(BlzGetFrameByName("ConsoleBottomBar", 0), false)

Edit: BlzHideOriginFrames(true) does not hide ui background textures right now.

I'm disappointed, honestly. I wanted IMPROVED reforged graphics not totally redone because I do like the Reforged aesthetic even though it needs improvements. For example, I like the new portait lighting. It makes them look much better. Instead we got cartoony terrain that looks better in Classic than it does in Reforged....and the fact that it breaks the carefully done terraining done in custom campaigns makes it even worse. Custom campaigns and CSW are the reason I bought Reforged in the first place and probably the reason why I like the Reforged graphics more than most people.

I think the secret ingredient to making WC3/Classic WOW era graphics are gradients, ambient occlusion and a BIT of photorealistic detailing here and there which is important because realistic elements are what make the cartoony aspects believable and believability is what facilitates immersion. Even the AI generated shots have buildings that look too clean and pristine. What we get is HOTS style cartoony terrain that clash with realistic models. If you chose a path then stick with it! Let classic and classic+ be cartoony realism and let Reforged be realistic.

one thing that's worse now than the other UI, is that when you host a map and want to fill with AI, you have to click, go down add AI and repeat.
in the old UI you could just spam clicks since the button add AI was below your cursor, you didn't need to move it, just spam click as fast as you can lol. but now you have to move it down and then click again >_>

either make it like the old UI that the button add AI starts on your cursor or just add a button on the side to quickly add AI.

I hope they will allow us to revert these horrendous changes to Reforged....

Yep, when the frame around the minimap in Loading screen looks like this... all of the textures are 100% AI upscaled.
Won't somebody actually do QA/QC on these things?

1731592220749.png
And this "new"-Reforged terrain... it looks even worse than 1.36 Reforged terrain! It's like a mobile game.

I just found out the terrain in nu-Reforged is flat because they used base (no detail) normal maps for the terrain tiles? WTF? Way to take advantage of physics based rendering, you absolute clowns.

And if I set the configs all to classic settings and set environment to HD reforged settings. I liked the menu with the possibility of choosing various game settings, at least it's better than before (or less worse), anyway, for me as a fan of the series it doesn't matter much, I gonna play anyway.

Excited to see Blizzard revisiting Warcraft 3: Reforged with a potential 2.0 update! It’s amazing to think we might finally get the improvements the community has been hoping for. Fingers crossed for a new chapter that brings this classic back to its full glory!
