Wtf.. thwy had very detailed graphiced models.. and they took them out for more cartoonish ones.. the terrain was amazing.. I love the trees in the first set.. some of the units were epic.. and the walls.. why did they take all these out!
Not off-topic.Coolman said:You'll need dosbox to run it.
Yeah I burned the beta out on the cd to preserve it....
I dont have the playable "crack" there tho, unfortunantly
Has no WE.
Distance is measured in another units (100 units in War3 = 10 in Beta).
Heroes have no skill points at level 1, can gain experience from creeps until level 10 and learn their ultimates at level 5. They are trained from the base building and resurrected by altars. There is no level skip requirement for the other abilities.
Heroes' mana is increased by 25 per point of intelligence, rather than 15.
Heroes' move speed is increased by 10 per point of agility.
Units have lower hit points (for example Grunts have 360, Peons 140, Acolytes 120).
Items are used with right-click, dropped with left-click.
The texture used for generic aura buff is actually the Circle of Power.
Human:
- Mountain King's Avatar is a toggle ability that drains mana until deactivated, like Imolation. He also does not turn to stone.
- Priests and Sorceresses are trained in a Mage Tower (looks like High Elven Barracks but smaller and with larger "horns" on top of it, also the gem on the top always glows)
- The spells of the Priest are Inner Fire, Dispel Magic and Heal, Initiate, Adept and Master, respectively (IF and Heal are switched). Heal cannot be cast on self.
- The Arcane Sanctum is a building that enables the production of Sorceresses. Also contains the Priest and Sorceress Adept/Master Training and the Magic Sentry research.
- Resurrection is not instantly cast, but rather has an AoE cursor (about 300 radius).
Orc:
- Lumber Mill contains upgrades for ranges attacks and Spiked Barricades. Forge contains upgrades for melee attacks and armor.
- Burrow is the only defensive structure. It fires very slowly and increases attack speed with every unit loaded (Peon, Grunt or Troll Headhunter, up to 4). Has no Battle Stations ability (automatically call 4 nearby units to garrison inside, as in WC3). Burrows do not provide food.
- Food is provided by Pig Farms.
- Tauren's Pulverize ability is a chance to do double damage. Tauren are trained in the Barracks but require Tauren Totem.
- Blademaster's Critical Strike has different chance of dealing triple damage.
- Tauren Chieftain has 3 abilities - Shockwave, Endurance Aura and Reincarnation. Endurance Aura gives movement speed and health regeneration (like the DK's Unholy Aura).
Undead:
- Lich's Frost Nova is an instant cast AoE spell. His
- The Death Knight has 3 abilities: Death Coil, Death Pact and Animate Dead. Death Pact is a shield that absorbs 50/100/150% of the sacrificed unit's life. Non-undead units can also be sacrificed as opposed to War3.
- Necromancers have Raise Dead as initial spell, Cripple as Adept and Cospse Explosion as Master (deals 50 AoE damage). When targeted, corpses have yellow selection circles and health bars pointing zero.
- As with the humans, Necromancers and Banshees are trained in the Temple of the Damned, Banshees require Sacrificial Pit which researches their upgrades.
- When attacked by a Crypt Fiend, a unit briefly acquires the buff "Spiderling". Does nothing.
Night Elf:
The Tree of Life itself gathers gold (automatically entangles the gold mine).
Wisps are consumed even after building non-Ancient buildings (Hunters' hall, Altar of Elders, Bear Den, Moon Well).
Wisps have a healing ability that can be used on Ancients AND organic units. They have 200 mana.
Moon Wells only recharge mana and it's not autocast.
Starfall is an AoE targeting spell, like Blizzard.
Priestess of the Moon has the sentinel ability (deploys a short-lived owl on a tree).
Huntress has the Scout ability (summons an owl that flies and scouts the map).
Demon Hunter's Demon Form has Permanent Immolation.
Like with Human and Undead, Bear Den enables the training of Druids of the Claw and contains upgrades for them and Dryads.
Druids of the Claw have the Bark Skin (+2 armor) and Bear Form abilities.
Chimaeras and Hippogryphs are trained in the Den of Wonders (Chimaera Roost).
Corrosive Breath is an active ability.
I'm adding the rest.
damn blizz... they make the best games in the world... and leave them to rot on their bookshelves and hard drives... and give us pitiful reflections... wich still are amongst the best in the world, but still...
