Hello there!
After this weekend I'll make a fresh post containing our final works on

RvzerBro and start a poll, but today I can share more warcraft-y icons I worked on with inspiration and pleasure!

Icons used:
This is how I fantasized about these icons:
| Shield of Vitality
A reliable shield that imbues the owner's body with durability and vitality.
Increases the hit points of the Hero by 150 and armor by 3. |
| Guardian of Vitality
A reliable shield that imbues the owner's body with great durability and vitality.
Increases the hit points of the Hero by 250, armor by 5 and rate of hit points regeneration by 3. |
| Cursed Guardian of Vitality
A reliable shield, once revered by the Heroes who carried it, granting incredible durability at the expense the owner's vitality.
Increases the hit points of the Hero by 300 and armor by 5. Grants the Hero an ability to block 40% of all incoming damage at the cost of losing 5 hit points per second for 30 seconds after activation.
Cooldown: 120 seconds. |
How I made these?
One could say I simply use layers in Photoshop in order to create such icons but it only seems so at first glance.
To achieve complete harmony with the style of the game, you need to pay special attention to the artistic style of the drawing, its detail and sharpness. After bringing the last parameters to the desired condition, here I drew the main "body" of the shield; painted shadows at the joints of the iron rim and the central sign; I also drew the edges of the central sign, because, for gilded objects, the edges cannot be just a black outline, but have, for example, a dark bronze tint. The idea of the icon and compositional solutions also require thought end effort.
The artists who created the Warcraft icons integrated a stylistically unified collection into the game (in addition to screenshot options), which is also distinguished by the paint effect, because they actually painted them with all their highlights. Reproducing this effect is not an easy task, but it is achievable, and here you can compare the following icons:
If you see their stylistic unity, even in not in-game resolution, then my work on creating a warcraft-y icon was a success.
I also hope you like the icons and find a use for them!
Sincerely!
