Hello everyone. I downloaded Warcraft 3 RoC and TFT from here. WC3 Download Archive (1.00 - 1.31.1 + BETA & DEMO)

I have the Reforged version of the game and the original games, but I can't really experience the original game because of Blizzard. So as a last resort, I downloaded the game from the link I showed.

The games loaded and opened. The interface works without any problems. However, whenever I try to open a game, I get an error like this. What should I do?

Error: Screenshot

Thank you for helping!

What game version are you currently using on, especially since you're talking about original ROC + TFT (and not Reforged)?

It could be as simple as you have already started the Reforged client before installing that original ROC + TFT, which might interfere your registries. If it's a case, please remove the registries, especially when you want to switch between different versions of World Editor. However, from the looks of that error, you appear to have a broken installation since there was a corrupted file (namely HelpStrings.txt).

I'm currently using 1.29 and I haven't such a problem about "corrupted files". I have also several backups of Warcraft III (1.27 and 1.31 included).

First of all, thank you for your feedback.

No, I don't use the original because I have to download Reforged in the original and the interface is not the old Warcraft interface (login screens, backgrounds, etc.). Also, the Reforged interface feels a bit laggy. That's why I don't like the Reforged version.

That's why I downloaded it from this site and installed the game. I wrote my CD key and it worked without any problems. However, when loading for the match, the game gives the error I shared above.

My version is 1.27a for both game packages.

The "Reforged" question sounds like an ambiguous because many people said that it's actually a remastered contents that can be bought legitimately for using the HD graphics in-game (with the latest patch, the option to use the AI upscaled version of the Classic can be accessible). If you download the game from Battle.net with only Reign of Chaos key, you'll get an up-to-date version of the game with ONLY Classic SD graphics. That version is quite buggy right now, considering the fact you have already mentioned about bugged interface in Reforged (due to the fact the game now uses some kind of Google Chrome thing).

Anyway, the error you encountered here is more likely related to your game installation. However, you can still get any versions of the game from the thread you linked on, preferably the ones in the "Game Files" section (get 1.29 or 1.31). That would be a safest way to play the game without problem, even though you will most likely not be able to play online with that version on Battle.net (must use the latest patch) and that you have to start the correct exe files so that your game doesn't redirect you to Battle.net application (which triggers an auto-update).

It's your decision whether you choose specific versions of the game for original ROC/TFT or not.
You don't have to actually downgrade version one-by-one.
You can have your original ROC/TFT (pre-1.32) and Reforged (1.32+) running side-by-side, but you MUST install both on a different folders.
I highly suggest getting the ones from the "Game Files" section, preferably the ones from 1.28+.
After you downloaded the game file, extract the content and start "Warcraft III.exe" (for 1.31, it's in the subfolder called "x86_x64").
You'll get a small window where you have to enter a CD-Key.
Remember to not touch the "Warcraft III Launcher.exe", as it's a program that redirects you to Battle.net application.
If your game doesn't work, you have to clear the registries first, especially if you are trying to use the World Editor.
