Timmy: The Fallen Child

Timmy: The Fallen Child
Campaign

DESCRIPTION:
Timmy, once an ordinary child, fell under the influence of dark magic and was transformed into an undead creature. He wandered the world of the dead for a long time until he discovered an ancient portal leading to Ashenvale. Memories of his past life are hazy, but one thing remains clear — something important is hidden in these woods, and he must find it.

Timmy's goal is to locate an artifact called the Heart of the Forest — an ancient magical stone concealed deep within Ashenvale. This artifact grants its wielder complete control over life and death in the forest. Driven by his undead essence, Timmy seeks to harness the power of the Heart to regain his lost humanity, but the process may prove catastrophic for him.

This is a small campaign with no plans to continue.

Units selected during cinematic mode. Varsir has two abilities with the same icon: Impale's. Linear gameplay; old fashioned and lame trees getting cut after reaching a point. No skip cinematics. No point in having this as a campaign if it's one map...

Really cool little campaign, creative characters and story idea. The gameplay felt pretty smooth, not overly difficult (maybe even a bit easy), discovering the hidden items was fun, and the terrain is really well done.

I made one little mistake early on, using Shadow Lightning to cut down the trees nearby the fallen Terrible Owl-bear, thinking there's a secret behind those trees and leaving the large temple to explore later, so I progressed without even having met Varsir by skipping the trigger where you meet him.

I'm also not sure about the icon for Snake Agility (even the name could be better) being the same as Demon Hunter's evasion, it makes it easy to understand what the ability does by remembering the original icon from Demon Hunter, but at same time the elf-themed icon is not fitting Timmy's character.

No point in having this as a campaign if it's one map; could be simply uploaded as a .w3x.
Not really getting any Timmy vibe; totally out of character. Could have just been about a night elf or human reanimated/restless spirit going through Ashenvale, a side story after Reign of Chaos or something.
Overall, nice gameplay with some puzzle inspired twists, choices and lovely terrain.

Approved.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

Thank you for the feedback, I agree, everything is quite simple. I made it in a campaign format instead of a single map because, at first, I couldn’t decide whether there would be two maps or if I could fit everything into one.
I’m also working on a small campaign with several chapters about bandits, and I think it will be fun.

A great mini-adventure map, would like to see something big from you someday. Here's what I noticed during my playthrough (1.31 version).
  • Varsir has too long spell windup time, I know it comes from being based on eredar animations, but still.
  • Varsir's fanged shell has a typo when learning spell, where it's written that lvl 3 passive gives +0 armor instead of +7.
  • Puzzle with magic circles should have some sort of signal that it was solved, perhaps a sound or camera points at the gate when they open.
  • Bad ending has some issues with dialogue timings, when supposed first line is said at the very end of cutscene.
  • Some of ai's voice lines sound weird like the text doesn't match with the voice line.
Also, poor Timmy can't get a good ending for himself.

Played it and will showcase it on my humble channel. I played it on Warcraft 3 Reforged v1.36.2, which is the latest game version for now.
  • Music abrupts if you save & load the game, but I think this is a minor issue;
  • About @deepstrasz saying that Timmy is out of character, I think that this Timmy incarnation is based on @Med. MapGuy Timmy from Joe Adventure, albeit some sort of. Just my impression from his replies and dialog phrases;
  • Both endings are brutal for Timmy. Alas, are there any hidden endings if I choose to spare Furbolg instead of killing him?
Nice little adventure, even with the choices to make. No difficulty, but somehow managed to die once.
Like!

EDIT:
Here is my showcase:

Thanks for the feedback. About the Furborg, no, the ending doesn’t change if you spare him only a line changes where sartir starts to doubt Timmy. As for the music, I’ am not sure i don’t want to experiment with it much because i had a bug in one of the maps because of that, so that’s how it is.

What if Timmy and Ragnar were to meet, and then they went to rob the dwarves' treasure (King Torgrim)? :xxd:

Timmy has found out the hard way that he will remain forever dead, and while wandering the wide world, he meets Ragnar, who, with his gang, is thinking about how to rob the Dwarf. They look at each other like they’ve found a kindred spirit, and think, “Hey, let’s go hijack some treasure from those vertically challenged furry guys!”Because, honestly, what could possibly go wrong?

In the grand drama of intergalactic antics, General Abbendis and the Backhand Gang are scheming the same hilarious stunt—great minds think alike! Who's gonna come out on top like a cheesy slice of pizza in a food fight? Will Thorgrim flex his muscles against the intruders, or will he start a friendly debate about the best type of cheese? As they hit the jackpot journey, what slapstick moments await our characters along the paved path to prosperity? Honestly, what could possibly explode… I mean, go wrong? (The ultimate goal should be to intentionally mix everything up and create a delightful chaos.)

Imagine four teams of competitive squirrels battling it out over a single acorn... that's basically what we're dealing with here!
