Naga Brute / Giant Murloc (Low Definition)

This bundle is marked as pending. It has not been reviewed by a staff member yet.
A stripped down version of the WOW Naga Brute model, more appropriate for standard WC3. Polygons go from ~5,000 down to ~1,900, Original file size ~2mb.

Suggested WorldEdit values:
Walk/Run: 180*
Turnrate: 0.3
Damage point: ~0.75 (very slow)
Death Time: 1.7

*Note that the walk/run animation speed is probably different for Walk Alternate

Took the model from this import by BardBord.
The Classic WoW style skin is from here by 67Chrome. Rename the skin path to: Textures\NagaWoW

The portrait is low effort but that's because you get:
  1. What you pay for
  2. What you _______ deserve

Please report bugs or oversights; I'll try to fix it.

Classic WoW Skin (Model)

Myrmidon Skin (Model)

Giant Murloc (Model)

trust me, it's not worth moving it to the "ported" section

To make it clear that this is not SD from scratch --- just a clarification in the description is enough

And it's better to leave the Ported section for clean ports that look like HD

Btw dude this is very cool done this is an awesome addition to the SD style naga race!!!

The mods can decide, The other thing I did that got moved to ported was more unique than this, probably.
Plus there's other stuff in ported that isn't HD.

I would say it belongs more in the SD section. Besides the WoW animations everything else screams SD. The mesh quality has been downgraded a lot too, doesn't resemble the original WoW model much - just my opinion

The model looks great, fits the Warcraft Naga Theme well :)
Perhaps Zandalari Troll Pterrodax Rider can also be moved to SD models section instead of ported.

Great model, Bleeq, I love demakes of wow models in wc3.
By the way "walk alternate" can be renamed to "walk fast" and the model will have different walking animations based on it's current move speed (see pit lord or dragonspawn model). Also it needs water wake particles on it's swim animations like any other naga as well as land foot prints and "attack swim" animation.
I'll try to implement all of these and send you an edit, if you don't mind.

If it saves me doing it, sure :p

I didn't really like Walk Fast, So I left it in there for other people to use if they want to mix things up. My understanding is that if I label it 'Walk Fast' it will become the default unless the unit is slowed by magic etc.
Or someone else said it defaults to which ever animation is closer to the unit's current speed, as stated in Art - Animation walk speed, Art - Animation run speed etc.

But then I'd like have to scale the Animations themselves in Retera to match the unit speed in game and that's more effort than I can be arsed doing. If you just set both art-walk and art-run as 180, it looks good to me. No moonwalking or anything.

I actually forgot naga could attack while swimming.

Bit of an aside, Is the dragonspawn model pretty much the same one that appears in WOW? That might explain the two walks.
Beast Master quill beast is 100% a backport of WOW boars, and from what I can tell the Draenei (non-goat versions) are basically the same, except the texture got updated for WOW. So I guess there is even Official Blizzard precedent for sharing assets between WOW and TFT 😅
Pitlord was from the original ROC tho, so I guess he's just special.

Great work taking this WoW model into the realm of Warcraft 3, and nice options with the textures. I've still never loved the WoW anims in Wc3, but that's much harder to fix 😅
Honestly i wish we could see more of this, WoW models with Warcraft 3 textures fit for classic graphics. I always wanted to make use of some of the WoW models, but they always stick out like a sore thumb cause they have WoW textures as well.

Since you mentioned that you can make some additions to the model, please add more eyes. I asked bleeq but I understand that it is very laborious and takes time, but if you could do that detail it would be a plus for the model :)

EDIT: I added a purple version to the original Wow model and it looks very nice in game

This model seems more popular than I was expecting so I'll fix some things:
  • Water wakes for swim animations
  • footprints
  • swim attack
  • make the swim animations loop correctly (the end frame and start frame are different)
  • make it look better while invis, Team Colour thing.
Please let me know if there are other issues.

Updated all the models, see changelog. When invisible the model is glitchy, and I've tried to fix that, but I've been informed by someone they aren't experiencing that on pre-reforged clients. So blame Blizz.
Noticed I was getting similar problem with other custom models too, which I didn't notice before.

Also updated the song to something more apt. 😊

Btw, does Brutus have a skin like a regular naga? There is one like the Guardsman, but also need one like the regular one. With blue skin and light green fins :)
