Deleting an Account

Real quick question: Is there some way to delete one's account? I searched through the account options and couldn't find anything.

Because I don't use this site anymore. How can I delete my account?

You cannot.
You can request that a admin does it for you though.

It has only been done once afaik though.

It's possible to get your account deleted by Ralle, but it won't happen. I don't see what's wrong with just quietly leaving the site if you don't use it anymore.

Correction : It did happened, but only once. I think that deleted guy was called Ardenian.

Yes, I've read it. It did happened once on Ardenian.
However, there's only a few evidence for this so finding it is hard. But he reviewed some maps and some posts were made by a Guest called Ardenian. And let's not argue about this anymore

If he wants his account deleted, and if he has a valid reason, I fail to see why his account wouldn't be deleted.

That's between him and administrator.

In general, valid reason to ask for account deletion would be one's decision to permanently abandon the website and delete all of his content from it.

And what prevents that person from leaving without deleting?
If you want to delete uploaded submissions - you can do that manually.
If you want to delete your posts to prevent people from seeing what you have written - impossible - even when the account is deleted the username and post remain.

So the only benefit you gain - is being unable to log in. But if you were gonna leave it doesn't matter if you are able to or not.

Debating on his motivation to request deletion is relevant and regards only to admin who he will speak to. And since there is history of translating accounts to guests usergroup, this is not a unprecedented request.

You can delete all your posts one by one if you wish to, but if memory serves all the threads along with their first posts can't be deleted

A complete removal of a user + posts/submissions is almost never senseful for any forum, as it will always leave a gap behind.

I always hate when someone tries to leave & takes all their contributions (especially resources) with them. I know it's entirely within their right (it's their stuff), but it still bugs me. We had a huge issue with that several years ago (search "Zero Tolerance"); some amazing people (& some amazing stuff) were lost. :<

I agree with you, but I hardly think that should be part of this discussion.

You may request an account deletion, but it's hardly normal for it to happen. Depending on your investment in the site and your reasons, we find an appropriate solution.
