You know, if this had been uploaded on the 1st of April, I might have understood it as a joke. But on the 2nd? What even is this? ; I can't even call it a custom campaign since items don’t transfer from mission to mission, nor do skills or anything else for that matter. It feels more like just a list of maps rather than an actual campaign, and everything about them is lacking.

Where do I even start?

- Every mission begins with me having zero farms for some reason. It's bizarre and really annoying to have to build 20 farms every time.

- Arthas starts at level 10. What’s the point of starting with a maxed-out hero? It’s boring to play when the hero is already at the highest level.

- The terrain in every chapter is awful, making it feel like a beta version of what the game is supposed to be. It feels like it needs at least 10 more alpha and beta updates.

- The AI is super confused at times, but it does micro the low hp units back, which is something positive to be fair.

- The victory conditions in most missions are strange. Sometimes you get the victory screen at random, and other times you just have to move from point A to point B with your hero to "win" the mission.

- After I finish a chapter, I have to start the next one manually; it doesn’t advance on its own for some reason.

- Having allies that are neither fully controlled by the AI nor the player is one of the worst choices for a custom campaign. For example, in Chapter 8, Outland, it's quite frustrating to have to manage heroes and units while the AI is actively resisting your commands!

- There is just too much nonsense, and the further I got, the worse it became. I suggest checking out other custom campaigns from different creators on this site to see how it’s supposed to be done.

Positives:

- There are some shops in the early missions, which is nice since that's the only way to get items for your heroes.

- And that's about it.

Playing through this custom campaign is like trying to enjoy a multi-course meal where each dish is served cold and missing key ingredients. You certainly expect a satisfying experience, but instead, you end up feeling disappointed and hungry for some real substance.

Well, you don't need anyone to tell you that this is exactly the same as your other campaigns, a disaster. So I'm going to assume you're simply uploading this content because you enjoy making the campaigns, so I don't think you're looking for anyone to rate it. That said, try to learn at least the basics so that it's at least "playable."

Regards.

ADDITIONAL NECESSARY INFORMATION
  • A credits list in the map thread description is required where the names of the resource (models, skins, icons, spells, sound etc.) authors are mentioned along with the specific resource. It would be a luxury to have links leading to the used resources. Credits in the Quest Log would be appreciated too.
  • A detailed changelog in the first post would be helpful to reviewers and notify fans about the newest implementations to your map.
  • Map thread tags are important. Please use those that fit and not more or none.

The idea, when explored in depth, is promising. However, the execution leaves much to be desired.

  1. I sort of figured out around mission 3 that the AI for most mission is the default melee AI, which of course leave much to be desired. Melee AI is not best for campaigns like this.
  2. Level in this campaign is absurdly high. You don't need that large number of level. Just use Object Editor to adjust the stats accordingly from the beginning.
  3. Dialogues really need improvements. I know English is not your native language, but consider asking for help reviewing the transcript (well, there's ChatGPT). At the moment, I'm trying hard to not cringe from the dialogues.
  4. Chapter 1: I'm not sure what the exact victory condition is, because I got a win while razing the undead base and rescuing my allies. I didn't even touch the orc base at all.
  5. Chapter 2: There's no AI for this mission. It's basically a slugfest of getting to the enemy base through the city (I assume the intended way?) or snipe Kel'thuzad.
  6. Mission 3 (Chapter 3-7): I'd say this feels like a lazy take of splitting the map into multiple maps while this one can, with proper knowledge of mapping, be combined into one map and cover the entire mission without spanning over 5 chapters and bloat the entire index.
  7. Chapter 3: Divine Shield --> Rush to point. Ideally, this can be fixed by distributing the bases more evenly and each base have portion of troops attacking one front of the alliance's base, giving the vibe of 'surrounded'. Distributing allied forces over several players also can help give the 'different commanders' feel.
  8. Chapter 4: Ain't captain supposed to be defending the base? He also goes in the portal?
  9. Chapter 4 and Chapter 9: Cinematic only maps should be marked as Interlude, not a Chapter.
  10. Chapter 5 and Chapter 6: These two maps are basically shoddy attempt on a boss fight. A really bad attempt of boss fights. Please learn from Creating a Bossfight tutorial.
  11. Chapter 7: 500+ food, basically food-locked throughout the chapter. This could have been much better had the players are spread out.
  12. Chapter 8: Timer is glitchy, basically going back to 15 min somewhat randomly. I'm sure it is related to whatever activates the timer, since I end up with TONS of timer windows. This also basically allowed me to play in a calm manner once I realize this issue. Clearing this in 15 minutes would be an arduous challenge with the sheer amount of enemies in the way.
  13. Chapter 10: This chapter is really frustrating. The ridiculous part of it is because Lich King is basically halved by the time you gain control (which is ridiculous by the way). I had to play with some weird strategies because of how insensible the amount of damage being taken early on, and if you're not careful, Teal can TP in Proudmoore to your base while you're reeling from the initial fight at <1k health, guaranteeing a reset. One could argue it is a challenging chapter, but I'd say it is challenging because the mission is not properly playtested.
  14. Chapter 11: Similar to mission 10. This is also frustrating because you lose if your hero dies, OR your base dies. It doesn't help that you are attacked by a swarm of Knights as soon as mission begins, and the ideal way to clear it is to kite your enemies to a corner to minimize the amount of Knights attacking Lich King. The clear target is not obvious in hindsight since it is contrast to previous mission, where now you have to deal with the base instead of just killing specific target.
  15. Chapter 12: No AI, literally just killing everything until you find where Maiev hides. Good luck wasting your time~
  16. Chapter 13: If you didn't pay attention to cinematic, good luck trying to find Thrall. It is more of an annoyance with how time limited you are and the fact there's dozen of enemy bases. This mission could have been WAY MORE interesting if it is crafted in a form of naval combat or Zeppelin attacks from the enemy.
  17. Chapter 14: AI allies are a blessing for this mission, though they're wacky and you need to use Melee wits to understand them. Not sure where Muradin is hiding because just suddenly win while hunting and razing every single human base. Probably same as chapter 12 as in good luck wasting time~
  18. Chapter 15: This is basically the classic Twilight of the Gods mission. The only change is the additional heroes for both sides, and basically food-locked early on because now you control all three bases. Oh, and it still has triggers tied to original NE campaign data... which means watching Archimonde burns again. Absurd that Archimonde pays no damn attention to the Archmage near the circle of power.

For now, I'm rating this 2/5 unless significant improvements are made.

EDIT:
Loaning @Blasterixx statement:

Is exactly how I feel from the experience.
