Spells & Systems Contest #6

Introduction
The Spells & Systems Contest is mostly like a mini-contests due to its low requirement, time limit and prize. The aim in each contest is to make a spell that matches the specification included below. To win, you simply have to try your best to make the given spell while considering the main judging points (see below).
Task
This contest's theme is

Protection Shield

The spell must leave a positive buff on the target friendly unit, that protects it from something (losing life, losing mana, spells, buffs, etc.) The rest is up to you.
Rules
1. Post your own work only!
2. Only one (triggered) spell should be sumbitted.
3. Don't protect your map!
4. Do not use custom sounds, icons or models that boost your spell's effects!
5. Your spell must support multiple levels (at least 2)!
6. You cannot use WEU's advanced functions!
7. The test-map should provide proper testing of the spell (low cooldown, many/respawning creeps, etc...)
8. Both JASS and GUI are allowed.

If you break the rules, you will be disqualified from the contest.
Entering
To enter, simply add a reply saying you will enter. You must edit that post, and attach your finished spell there!
Do not reply more than once to make it easier to find who's taking part and who is not. Do not reply unless you wish to take part, only Administrators/Moderators may reply as much as they want about the contest (even if not entering).
You have 13 days to submit/modify your spell, and one day (Sunday) will be used for testing the spells and announcing the winner.


You can not enter this contest, if you
-have a negative reputation
-won the previous spells & systems contest.
Judging
Judging will follow a formula:

1. Idea (5 points) - Originality and execution of the idea is the goal.
2. Triggering (5 points) - Making efficient, leakless, and simple (as possible) triggers is the goal.
3. In-game playability (3 points) - Making sure your spell is easily understandable (tooltip, not overcomplicated) to the average player, as well as having a practical use in x game type is the goal.
4. Visual effects (2 points) - Making a nice-looking (but not too complicated) effect, while not hugely hindering the spells playability value (excepting spells with this theme, such as a spell that masks the screen for enemies of the caster) is the goal.
5. Theme (3 points) - The better the spell matches the theme, the more points you will get in this category. ex: A black hole is 'Evil' (judging by the models) magic, but it doesn't really fit 'Evil', so that would get a low rating should the contest theme be 'Evil'. A Death Bolt spell, on the other hand, would score a high rating.
Prize
A spell can earn a maximum of 18 points. It's simple, the contestant with the most points will win.
The winner's prize will be 10 reputation points, and earn a spot in the "Spells/Systems hall of fame" (list of winners of this contest).
However, the winner cannot participate in the next contest.
You have 13 days to work on and submit your spell.

The deadline is: 11:59 PM September 1, 2007 (saturday), in GMT.

You cant protect yourself? E.g. Divine shield. Seems bit silly, or maybe you just didnt think of that option? Anyway I wont enter since I cant, due to winning the last contest. Good luck to everybody who plan on entering :).

one further question : you said 'It must target a friendly unit, and it should be something positive.'
Does this mean my shield cannot have any effect on enemyes (since it is something negative for a enemy nit) or is that allowed too ?

Nothing too cool (or difficult), but hey... not every spell should be fireworks.

Arcane Protection - Makes a target unit evade attacks which such a speed, rendering him nearly invulnerable and forcing him to moves out of combat in the heat of a battle. |n|n|cffffcc00Level 1|r - 10 seconds duration. |n|cffffcc00Level 2|r - 15 seconds duration. |n|cffffcc00Level 3|r - 20 seconds duration.

Hey will we be docked points or anything if our spell is kinda complicated? Not really 'complicated' but mine would have roughly 9 custom buffs and probably 4+ abilities not including the heros shield ability.

Went pretty far for this one. But the result is great, in my opinion.
Holy Spiral
The hero summons multiple sprites of light around a target unit, which will
slowly rotate outwards. The Sprites will form a sanctuary of light within them,
which turn all allied units within it invulnerable. Halfway through the duration
of the spell, the sprites will begin to rotate back inwards.

Level 1 - Lasts 6 seconds.
Level 2 - Lasts 9 seconds.
Level 3 - Lasts 12 seconds.

One question

If you're competing in a spell making competiton, is it ok to view other competitors' spells and/or give feedback in any situation at all?

It must protect someone from something, and it can't only target the caster (I think, I don't want to risk breaking rules). Apart from that, I believe you have free reign

how about if its like a field that protects all within it?

That should be fine, as long as we know what the units are protected from

Apologies to those that just viewed my earlier Infernal Barrier, but I had to take it off... No AoE spell are recommended (you lose points for some reason). However, I've made an arrangement... Evil Shield. Check on page 4 view it, along some more details AND that one leak I know I have

This brings me to a question, will the judges go ahead and test the map, or will they look at the trigger editor, object editor etc? I know they may notice something odd with my spell anyway, but it's ok to ask, right?

Oh and sorry about the double-post thing... I won't do it again

I'm guessing they'd both check it in WE and in-game.

OK, to make everything clear!

It must target a friendly unit. I want all spells to be a single-unit-targetted. Make it an aoe if you want to lose points...

It must protect the bearer from something. So it is has a positive effect, right? It can harm enemies, but don't forget, it is a "Protection Shield".

There's only one judge, me. Of course, I will turn all spells inside-out, and check everything in details.
 
Enchant Mana

Inverts a hero into pure magic, making it invunerable to attacks but vunerable to magic attacks, also gives a bonus in movement speed and gains no collision.

Level 1
25 Seconds; Slight movement speed bonus

Level 2
30 Seconds; Moderate movement speed bonus

Level 3
35 Seconds; Great movement speed bonus

EDIT : here is my submission

Mystic Rift Shield:
Creates a shield of mystic energy around a target, with the ability to redirect any incoming damage to a random target nearby. If the shield is taking damage from too many sources or taking a blow that is too powerfull, it will leak damage to the target.
