I love all things WC1 and this is no exception. thanks for showing love to those concepts. if i can offer one point of possible improvement, the thickness, teamcolor border and flatness of the hay roof makes it look unrealistic, at least as i'm zooming in and spinning the model around in the viewer. I think sloping it a little bit and maybe making it thinner would go a long way towards making it look more like a real hay roof.

I see what you mean. My main concern is if only the chimney bit is teamcolored it may not be obvious enough ingame. I might play around with it a bit tomorrow.
 
I'm not sure that thatched roof is safe when you work with fire. Perhaps the original roof is made from tiles?
Safety standards were extremely low during the first war. Those people were pretty crazy!

In this concept art it looks like it was of wood lol.
 
Hmm, what exactly is the difference between 2 and 2.1?
Reshaped the chimney a bit, the roof is thinner and slightly sloped and has no team color, and there's a different fire in the work animation. Not a huge difference but I think it looks better :p

I see. The fire going through the roof in 2 is fixed in 2.1. However, part of the fumes are still going through the chimney upper walls.

Never played Wc1 but I'm always glad to see people recreating the classics in Wc3.
You're lucky to have escaped the horror of teching all the way up to knights, the strongest regular unit you've got, with everlasting build and construction times and having to clear forest to make room for buildings and roads, only to have him get 1-shotted by one of these guys.

@hexhound is being quasieasy on you. No mention of Catapults killing at least 4 of your troops in 1-2 hits (depending on their attack upgrade and the toughness of the targets).
and having to contend with being able to select only 4 units at a time, no right-click ordering, at that moment when you when you've got a gang of dudes grouped up and there's already a catapult firing on them.

i tell ya, we walked forty minutes through snow to get to school, too. uphill.
 
I gotta be really honest here. I never played WC1 or even WC2 until after I played WC3. That's kinda how this WC1-but-if-it-was-made-after-2003 thing got started, I wanted to play a version of WC1 that didn't suck compared to WC3, and it kinda got a life of its own even when I didn't really even play WC3 anymore.
